Reangled my gti6 manifold today, with the help of a mate who can weld. Seems to be a pretty good fit too. Certainly enough room between manifold and bulkhead - it's closer to the steering rack/gear shift arm heatshield - hopefully not too close when all fitted to rest of exhaust. Which brings me to my question:

We decided that we couldn't use my original 8v downpipe as it had the split in it, so couldn't fit the lambda sensor in it properly. So we made a start on a cut and shut affair using the original vts downpipe, with lambda boss.

However, this will be a bit of a bodge when all done, with numerous welds and bends! I also fancy a different backbox to standard - something a little more "sporty" than the standard droopy item! So am thinking maybe bite the bullet now and get a custom downpipe/centre/backbox sorted which will last and fit properly, with lambda boss in the right place etc.

Any thoughts on the above or suggestions on exhausts - not chavvy loud ones - the 205's loud enough.

Cheers

Pete

I believe the gti6 de-cat downpipe is a good fit, there are a few stainless one availiable but i couldn't find a mild steel one. I just cut and shut a 205 one without the split down it in the end. Tou might want to considor the dB of your exhaust before buying if your thinking of using it in competitions or track.

Make it yourself, its usually cheaper and you can choose what backbox you want. Jetex do a really good range of s/s and cs boxes and bends etc...

Then you can decide whether you want one big box or 2 smaller ones or whatever really.
