Starting Issues Again !

Right , after i fixed similar problem two years ago with spare ignition amp this time i found that the fuel rail isn't maintaining pressure while sitting overnight . Tried today again , turned the key , fuel pump primes , crank it two times but it didn't start .. so i decided to take a look if the system is pressurised - undone the main fuel feed pipe from the rail but it was bone dry ;) no pressure nor the fuel either .. then , i opened up the fuel pump relay and manually closed the relay contacts in order to run the pump and build up the pressure in the system - afterwards it started straight away ...

Checked the injectors as well and none of them leaks , fuel pipework seems to be sound (but will replace them anyway tomorrow) pressure regulator is only one year old which leaves - the fuel pump (return valve)

Now , for how long the system must hold the pressure and which is acceptable pressure drop when left overnight ?

The car basically needs excessive cranking until it starts when left overnight or even after one or two hours !

Thanks

same here, mine is fine if left over night, but if it's been run for a while and stopped for more than 10 mins, you need to crank it for ages to get it to fire.

once again it's the fuel pressure, as i had a gauge inline.

split fuel hose perhaps? or is there a non return valve in the pump itself... or at the regulator.

when running it's got perferct pressure... most odd.

Replaced fuel pump today and so far it seems fine :) but will need to wait 24h for a proper test !

Looks like the non return valve was leaky on my old fuel pump ..

i also bought a new pump, went to fit it, got the old one out and noticed the connector block was different... genius.

You mean the new fuel pump wiring connector right ? if so you can swap them over without damaging/cutting the wiring or connectors :)
