Immobiliser Removal

Recommended Posts

mainline

I need to get my immobilser off as it keeps cutting in while i'm driving. The connectors seem fine, so I think it could be the black box of tricks. Its a Philips 302 if that helps. I have heard that you can use a voltmeter to check the current through each wire and then solder the wires with the matching currents together. Is that right and can someone expand or impart a bit of expert knowledge if it is?

Many thanks

Ian

Just follow the wires back and see where they go. Often the original wires have been cut and spliced/soldered to the immobiliser wires. Cut them out and solder them up.

Most old skool immobilisers will cut ignition and fuel pump. Mine certainly did and started to die when the heater matrix leaked on it. I had to hotwire my own car to get it Miles' place!

as above. alot of the wires will no doubt end up in the glovebox area where the fusebox is. usually the car loom is cut then the wires are soldered to it, so it will just be a case of unsoldering the joints then soldering the pug loom back together.

i recently removed one from a landrover have a good look at the ign wires and follow them to find the black box then follow all the wires coming from that, once you get an idea of that pop back with the info.

I was worried about doing this as the land rover in question had been sold on ebay and was being picked up the same day (went to start it up to make sure and the immob wouldnt turn off, nightmare!) anywas once i actually had a root about it was pretty obvious as most the ign wires are coloured so it was basically yellow to yellow etc.

It's normally very easy on a 205 as they cut into xxxx wires which can be bypassed in second's, I;m not saying anymore in public just in case

In all the 205's I have seen (Allot) I can say I have only found 2 well installed systems
