Header Tank Coolant Hoses Locations..?

Recommended Posts

springs

Hi all..

I've finally got my engine working and now want to get the cooling sorted. I've got all the pipes in place except for one. as you look at the header tank there are 2 smaller pipes that come off the side of it. the left one goes to the radiator by the drivers light, but where does the other one go to? does this connect to the air filter / throttle body??

The engine in the car now is a Gti-6 one but it doesn't have a air filter system on the car yet. just a bare throttle body. if it does go here is it ok to run without connecting it?

thanks

On an 8valve yes it does come from the tb, it's the return line so I guess you would set it up the same on GTI6. You dont have to connect it as long as you dont connect the coolant hose which 'feeds' the tb, if you know what I mean!

Again on an 8v, but im sure very similar, the 'feed' for the tb comes from the thermostat housing so if you want to bypass the tb just connect this outlet straight upto the inlet on the header tank. Jobs done.
