Gearbox Selector Arm

Recommended Posts

jengis

Hi,

Basically, I'm halfway through fitting a 306 xsi BE3 box but stupidly, I have only just noticed that the selector arm on top of the box is different. I can't see how they come off. Ideally I need to just swap the top arm for the 205 one. Can this be done without taking the box appart?

would really appreciate any help given.

Kev

there's a rollpin securing it to the shaft, with a smaller one inside that, try not to let the shaft drop down into the gearbox as you pull the arm off.

Ok thats great. Glad it can be done! .... Just not sure what a rollpin is. Could you give me a better idea of what I actually need to do please? Any special tools? I tried levering it up, thought there might be a circlip holding it on, but I was wrong.

Do I just tap the roll pin out with a suitably sized punch? I'm not at the car now but when I go back I'd like to be pretty sure of what I'm doing!

sorry for aking stupid questions.... but how likely is it that the shaft will drop into the 'box when it comes off?

Yer just tap the roll pins out and it probobly wont be easy to stop the shaft dropping down especialy when pushing the 205 selector on so good luck
