Aftermarket Steering Wheel – Which One?

Recommended Posts

You don't need to do any of that no!

There's plenty of removable bosses on the market, some are just better than others. You generally have a normal boss as you would with any aftermarket wheel, then the releasable boss between that and the wheel itself.

Only reason im going an ektor boss and group N lifeline boss is cause it bolts to the boss rather than having the splines welded onto the column.

bare in mind that having any quick release boss on top is just similar to having a 50mm spacer there. if you look at the pictures i have posted, you will see i have cut those "legs" off the boss which gives about 50mm to offset the extra length of the quick release boss.

Well I tried out swordfish 120's car today, momo flat face wheel, lowered seat bars and an OMP/Colin satchell hybrid cage. What a faff to get in an out, and even then my knees were hitting the steering wheel with the boss on. Looks like im going to have to get my seat back at the B pillar and the spacing on the wheel will be just fine with the seat so far back.

Can I just confirm that it doesnt matter what 'standard' boss you use when it comes to unwanted play, and only need to spend good money on the quick release part ?

My boss was £30 delivered and is great, no play at all.

Exactly yes, as there's no moving parts in the adaptor boss. (from column to wheel) The releasable boss goes between that and wheel.
