Not particularly, more likely the 180lb springs.

GTi-R's

What was the handling like and why did you sell it?

I haven't taken this but is one of my favourites

sweet photo!!!

Handling was brilliant - after fitting the bump steer kit, before that, woeful understeer.

sold it because it was a money pit...

Not particularly, more likely the 180lb springs.

Meaning what? They're too soft? Does it handle well as it is? If you go any harder you'll sacrifice handling, you weren't advised of that spring rate for a giggle dude!

IMO it's probably more likely to be the wide rims with the wrong offset (Et11?), running on the widest possible track width then coupled with ghetto-spec ride height.

My old Miami was probably lower if not similar height to yours static; 1.6 running gear, ran on 7" ET20 (which will help) rims on standard dampers and didn't catch like that at all (just trimmed the outer plastic arches) and was much softer than 180lb even with it's generic lowering springs!

I actually really like the 180lb springs they feel nicely balanced on the road. It seemed to handle fairly well on track it was just unfortunate that the tyres ended up crashing

I've seen a few different offsets on the 4000's, very mixed but I quite like the stance mine have. Just need some different rims for track !

Thanks keypan.

Money pit in what sense? Not reliable or expensive servicing costs?

A few more from the same event, a trackday on a frozen lake a few years ago, the most fun thing I have done in a car.

Spot the Caterham in the picture!

The Mini was driven by a 70-year old chap who was one of the fastest drivers.
