Sloppy Gear Stick

after recently moving my rally car i notice that the gear stick seemed to have a lot of travel from back to front

 

side to se movement is fine, no play at all.

 

it is currently fitted with a sort shift mod which seems fine.

 

as far as i remember the travel seemed to be ok.

 

does anyone know if this could be something inside the gearbox causing the excess travel

check the ball joint pivot on the subframe, both 205's I've sat in in the last 2 days had the same issue, it was thi9s that was VERY loose

 

IIRC its a 14mm spanner to stop it spinning and a deep 13mm socket through the hole in the subframe.

just the ball joint pivot and it has come loose, it started to open the hole out in the subframe
