Funny Noise Now It Wont Start

Recommended Posts

Hi lads,

just done a top end re-build on a engine. I fitted it and have fitted reconned injectors (as 3 were stuck solid)

I started it up and it was fine for 15seconds i went to rev it and it sounded like the starter motor was thrown in and it made that horrid high pitch squeel .

i knocked it off and now it wont start!

it turns over so i'm sure its not seized or anything like that this also rules out the starter which is less than 18months old.

I've flattened the battery trying to get it to start and checking different things fuel/spark etc

so while its on charge i thought i'd ask on here .

Its a 89 1.6 standard 205.

cheers lads

johny

Could be bent valves, still allows the engine to turn over but it won't fire.

Did you make sure the cambelt was tensioned properly and did you turn it over by hand four or five times before starting on the starter.

Still worth a check over the belt just in case.

High pitch sound sounds very much like the tensioner as mine did that just before the belt came loose.

Could the whine be the alternator belt, not sure on why it doesn't start.

dont think so. it sounded just like the starter had been thrown in.

i'll check the belt + compression once the battery is charged again .

i hope its not the cam belt:(
