8v Turbo Oil Feed Thread

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what thread the oil feed is on the 8v turbo engine? It's very close to m16x1.5, I've tried screwing the oil pressure switch (which is m16x1.5) into the hole and it will only go in by a couple of threads.

There's some universal oil feed kits on ebay but without knowing what thread it is I can't find out if it will be of any use.

I don't need the oil feed yet, the engine is still spread all over the shed, but I'm getting bored waiting for parts to be delivered!

Thanks,

Rob

I thought it was the same thread,On some of the 16 v units the pressure switch for the light is screwed in there instead and on some others theres often a sump type bung in there as a blank, its all the same block essentially isnt it ?

You sure the thread isnt either damaged or got some dirt in it ?

Whizzer gave the same answer I was going to give, it is a standard iron block pressure switch you're trying in the hole?

edit, the bung that's usually fitted is 16x1.50

0163 93 OIL DRAIN PLUG DIAM 16X150

it is indeed a sump plug upon cross-referencing the part number! :)

Hmm, I'll have another look at it tonight.

The oil feed for the standard turbo still fits in fine, but nothing else I have fits, I measured the union that screws into it and it was something like 15.7mm, so maybe the threads have a build up of rust/burned oil/crap that's stopping anything else fitting, I wonder if I have a 16x1.5 tap to run through it!

Thanks,

Rob

Been down and had another go at it, found an oil pressure sender from an s16, that fit fine, then got the oil pressure switch I was trying in it, put it in by a couple of threads again and it wouldn't go any further, checked the threads on the switch, all good, so got a big spanner on it! Went in with a small ammount of resistance the first time, now it goes in by hand

Thanks for the replies, just need to get an oil feed made up now!
