Mi16 Throttle Potentiometer

Recommended Posts

I use one of these on my 205 TT, which runs on Omex management.

Today the car began to mis-fire badly. With the laptop connected the TPS was showing very little/random movement. I disconnected the TPS from its plug, too, and the mis-firing remained.

So, I'm drawn to the conclusion that the TPS is screwed. But surprised at how it's gone from good to bad in such an acute manner.

Anybody else had a similar experience?

yes, on a gti6, one day it just wouldn't idle from cranking and popped and banged if given throttle, disconnected the sensor and the ecu used base settings so although not ideal, worked much better!

uses a very similar one to the Mi16, so much so that it seems to work fine though the part number doesn't match!

Super Josh

I'm assuming that you Chaps are refering to the 2.0 litre S16 one? As the 1.9 Mi one is just a switch like 8V.

Kyri, I think I have a spare S16 one kicking around in the cellar, that you are welcome to if you want to have a play :(

Thanks guys. Well, I don't believe it is a TPS issue now.

With the engine off the ecu software shows no problem with the throttle. I'm pretty certain the ecu is faulty. A relay is clicking continuously within it.
