Paint Compatibility, Acrylic For Wheels

Recommended Posts

pugpete1108

im pretty sure i've used cellulose white spray for the base on my wheels (halfords wheel paint?)

i'm thinking of using some acrylic clear on the top but i'm not sure if they will go together?

the base coat has been dry for sometime now if that helps.

will acrylic be tougher?,failing that has anyone use 2k lacquer from a can? i guess this would be tough but again will this go over cellulose.?

Acrylic ontop of celly is a big no no im afraid. Will 'pickle'

I think im right in saying 2k will pretty much go ontop of anything.

2K in a can works because you release the hardener into the tin just before you use it (there is usually a mini tin inside which is released by pushing a button). hen you have to respect the potlife.

I can get 2k aerosols, I am just waiting for firm pricing.

I get my 2k aerosols for £12, from local paint factors. can even get water based areosol's from them now too.

You may find though, that if you try to apply acrylic base on top of celly it will still react. If it does, you will need to buy a isolator which prevents the paints reacting.
