Just use some RTV/sealant. Loctite 5920 Copper sealant is the b0llocks. :)

really, i thought that would be a major no no with regards to the inlet manifold , with regards to valves chewing up any bits of silicon that get past the edges of the sufrace and make there way into the valves. And will it really be reistant enough for the temps of the exhaust manifold ?

Can you not get them from Pug themselve's or GSF or someone?

I got an exhuast gasket for the manifold to downpipe from pug.

I've just got a new inlet manifold, so will be needing a new gasket.

I'll ask ask my local pug garage and see what they say :)

yea pretty sure i can get them from pug, just the pain of ordering them usally. Gsf dont actually have them , tried them earlier :) halfords told me there was 4 diffrent ones dependant upon engine code.

The engine code is stamped on a bit of metal which is rivited to the side of the block by the g'box (I think) and they usally fall off, I've looked for mine and could not find it.

Have you tried Euro Car Parts?

The other thing you could do is go on service box and find the part code then give it to halfrauds.

Neil :)

Just don't over do it, only needs a small amount, holds up to silly temperatures, aswel as oil, coolant etc.

that's it!

the other code is RFS, though you should be able to identify it from either.

I always thought there was a specific code for each engine.

I know the make (GTi6) and model (xu10j4rs) are obversly the same but how can you tell what year/car the engine came from?

There is only one inlet gasket type for that engine so Halfods are talking ...... as normal, Exhaust gaskets are common across the range thou of the R and RS engine's

The engine code is on the end of the head above the thermostat housing it's stamped on there, should end in j4rs

Go to pug for the inlet manifold gasket it's only 2.88 inc vat not sure about the exhaust but I should imagine it's not much dearer, don't use euro parts as they couldn't source a hooker in Amsterdam
