Engine Problems..

Just picked up a 205 GTi, phase 2, 1.6....

 

 

Got a lil niggle..

 

 

Takes a while to start on the key, when cold.....

 

I would say atleast 5 seconds, then kinda struggles, so you have to help rev her up...

 

Then, she will stall..

 

It will start back up fine, but for a few moments, you have to idle it....

 

Im thinking this is a common problem... But how can i cure this niggle..

Sounds like SAD (choke) problem which is common malfunction ..

 

Search button will reveal loads of threads regarding this subject but for the beginning , start up the engine from stone cold and try squeezing the SAD pipe in order to check if it's working (if it works the engine will stall a bit when you squeeze the pipe) and look around the SAD pipework if you can find loosen clip or perished air pipe .

Cheers, just cleaned all the TB, and now ideling 500rpm to high....

 

Dunno abt this SAD thing, but will search!

Have a read first on all the known issues - it's quite a common thing on the old 8v.

this was my old car and my new one does the same i wish i could get it sorted its so embarrising simes i am interested if fearon isn't in the sad
