Recommended Posts

johnnyboy666

as per title, i'm about to fit 1.6gti brakes onto my roland garros but might be swapping the speedlines for 13inch or 14inch steelies in the near future, just wondering what will fit?

thanks

Yes, they'll fit under any peugeot steelies as they have the extra little buldge to clear the outside of the caliper. I'm running them at the moment.

Indeed, if I recall, didn't Euro Rallye's have this configuration (13" steels and 1.6 Bendix calipers) as standard?

they did indeed, 1.6 discs and hubs so a slightly deeper offset, 5.5" wide white 13" steels.

only thing is, i was debating using non-peugeot 13s would they still fit? how much clearance is there with peuget ones?

There's not a huge amount of clearance with peugeot ones. Wellers definitely won't fit without a 5-10mm spacer on the front, although you could use FWD ford offset ones and some spacers to get the clearance and correct offset.

rallyman runs some weller and lotus sunbeam 13s with no problem.

What hubs does he run? These wellers definitely wouldn't clear the 1.6 GTi calipers on standard hubs with 1.9 discs:

I ran 13x6 XR2 rims with 10mm spacers

Also ran PTS 13X7's - but they are now as rare as rocking horse manure

Full 1.6 Gti setup, they're a different older style weller to those though, and Sunbeam fitment/offset rather than pug really.

I know a man who makes 13 inch split rim super lightweight alloy wheels, could be supplied in Peugeot PCD as well.

There's more room on the full 1.6 gti setup isn't there? It pulls the calipers in or pushes the wheels out, one or the other!

yes there is :D never seen anyone quote the actual difference though, might be shown in a brake disc catalogue I'd think?

Who?

If they are less than £250 each - I know someone who is likely to be interested

Carl Austin of Force Racing- based not far from you in Morley, he used to hillclimb at Harewood but does drag racing now. These are available in 13" from 6 - 8 inches wide.

£850 up to 7" wide , £900 up to 8" wide, for a set of 4, but does depend on what offset you would want as to how wide he can go. A 7" wide weighs approx 3.4kg, add 1/2" width adds approx 0.1kg

Pic here, centres available in the colours shown

Nah, if I stuck some R1 6-pots on my 266mm's I reckon they'd go under 13's?

Now there's just the matter of finding £900 when some nasty man has been up and disconnected my milling machine.

Visa GTi alloys are 13"x5.5J and fit fine over 1.6 brakes as thats what they had from the factory. I run 13x6J XR2 rims on my sprint one which require a 6mm spacer on the front and 10mm on the back but thats to clear the rear shock which isnt an issue on a 205. To run 1.9 hubs with 1.6 calipers you need 10mm spacers with the Ford wheels. I have a set of Visa ones spare if you wanted them for £30 or something collected

I have a set of the PTS wheels. Apparently they will fit over the 1.9 brakes but i've never tried...
