Front Window Removal

Need to remove one front window and replace but cannot seem to free existing window from mechanism, am I missing a trick.

 

Trim off - undone 4 bolts on door and now got mechanism flapping around. Can't seem to get the wheels out of the metal bits at the base of the glass to lift originals out. Am I on the right lines or missing something.

 

I presume the glass will not simply pull out of the holder at the base and its not that simple or maybe I am!! :lol:

I think all i did was to unbolt the mechanism and push it in to the door so it fell down then i just tilted the window and pulled it out. I managed it with one hand as i was eating an awesome bacon and sausage baguete at the same time .

I'm trying to cast my mind back to when I've done this. I don;t think you need to remove the winder mechanism or motor, as I'm sure that comes out with the rest of it. So the only thing I can suggest is that you need to have a fiddle, move the glass up and down by hand and as you do so move the X shaped lifter part until you get it just right and the wheels pop out of the brackets on the base of the glass. Once you have those wheel out of the brackets, you should be able to lift the glass out.

Its manual and I've lowered it a bit and hey presto all fell to bottom of the door and I can ease it out .

 

I'd previously read I needed to tape the Window shut in a previous item after I'd done a search
