Oddly I was thinking about the 80s / early 90s trend for pin striping and graphics last night. I was wondering when it died out, and when dealers stopped doing them. Can you buy a car with a pinstripe on it now? What happened to make them so unpopular? My dad's Escort had a hideous graduated fade along the side of it in grey / red and white, proper 80s!

Pinstripes out - the modern day equivalent is those dirty great Daytona/Cobra/GT40-esque racing stripes straight down the middle of your car.

 

Looks great on anything with a V8 in it, but a f***ing Forda Fiesta ST? Pur-leez....

Yeah thats true actually. I forgot about them, and my opinion is the same. Shelby Cobra, Dodge Viper, Ford GT, Citroen Saxo VTS, TVR Griffith. There is a car hidden among those which doesn't actually suit having big thick stripes over it.

 

I suppose full body vinyl wraps, shopping lists on the front wing, fake carbon add ons and things like that are the new pinstripes.

 

And people think we had bad taste in the 80s!

Just wanted to pop back into this thread and update Phil on his dear old car, which is now finished and MOT'd and back on the road...
