Gearbox Lever Arm Slack Movement

Recommended Posts

M@tt

I've some slack movement in my gearstick which is attributable to one of the selector arms on the gearbox which is able to move back and forth by approx 5mm in either direction. Now i think it's the longer of the the selector arms (although i'd need to double check)

Anyone care to shed any light as to what's likely to be worn that's causing this movement

Cheers

ALEX

Check the linkage before you condemn the gearbox.

Its made of bits of old coat hangers and a new set from Peugeot will cost you about £100 and last for about a fortnight!

Yep I hate Peugeot too... but love the 205!

it's definitely the actual arm on the gearbox not the linkages, with the linkages disconnected the arm still rocks back and forth the same amount.

Miles

The box must have done some Mileage, The only thing that can happen is the Rivet on the selector fork might have come loose or fallen out and thats about it, The fork where the selector run's thru I have never seen worn mush at all as there's no load on it
