Set Up Needed

Recommended Posts

Rich_p

Since putting the correct 1.9 ecu in my 309 (it was running a 1.6 item) I have not had the thing set up properly.

It runs and starts fine but is now very kangeroey at low speeds.

I'd like to the the timing, tps and afm all set up properly.

Can anyone recommend somewhere close to Harlow in Essex that can be trusted to do a good job and at a reasonable price.

You can do it yourself, guides on the main site iirc. But ideally you need a gas analyser to do the AFM, presuming it works properly, friendly Mot garage can help with that.

Jerkiness could be caused by the TPS, presuming again it works properly, make sure it's adjusted so that the litle click can be heard as soon as the throttle is opened any amount.

Thanks, I may have a go although I'd be more confident just letting someone who knows what they are doing sort it!

Strange thing is it wasn't at all jerky when it had the 1.6 ecu in there?

Probably because iirc you mentionned it was a superchips jobby or similar, and they don't have the fuel cut at idle, pointing even more so at the TPS at fault.

Not many Garage's can set this up, not even when they where new so the chances now are almost zero, As said have ago your self or if you want a drive pop it down to me

That's correct Baz, although the relacement ecu is ment to be a superchips jobby and it doen't appear to have a limiter.

Well I'll have a go at the tps first as I've messed about with those before, I actually had one from you before as the one of the 205 died and was reading wot the whole time.

Cheers Miles, I think it might be a bit of a trek though.

Someone like Boombang (Alex) is nearby; perhaps he's worth a PM and few beers to?

Even our mate Bazza ain't too far from you. He likes beer; I know.

you could try turning the mixture screw in on the AFM a turn to richen it up. I did this on my Mi16 and it stopped some kangaroo like behaviour. if it doesn't work, try another turn in. keep a note of how many turns you go!

I have the Diag tool to set these up, Made by snap on and basic but so is the ECU, Only thing is they are a pain to use and the ECu needs to be removed to plug it in between
