Lower Rad Pipe Diameter

Recommended Posts

I need to replace a the pipe that goes from the rad to the metal water pipe (although I'm getting rid of that pesky metal bit), can anyone confirm that the ID of that pipe is 32mm?

I've measured the outside and its about 40-42mm, sounds about right to me, just wanted to check, thanks!

I'm pretty sure thats standard on all gti's right? Maybe even ALL 205's?

I should also explain (incase anyone has any wonderful ideas) why I'm asking.

My S16 has had the metal water pipe and 2 shorter rubber pipes removed and a single rubber one in its place, the only problem is, when turning left (near lock) the pipes gets squashed between the wheel and the alternator belt, which isn't ideal so I need to move it. Anyone else had this experience before?

Believe thats the reason for the metal water pipe, it doesn't get squashed :$ Assume you could use a slightly smaller diameter pipe than original but the car might get slightly hotter.

According to the Nissens website the outlet on the bottom of the rad is 33mm diameter, so 32mm pipe should fit fine.

Just for info the size of the stub on the outlet at the back of the block varies, I have seen 1 1/4" and 1 1/2". (32 and 38mm)
