Hi all, I am in the process of reassembling my engine after a total renovation plus the addition of a dave baker bv head and trimmings. The block has been totally refurbed new everything with the exception of the pistons. See attached pic. What do i need to look out for? i.e measurements of cylinder liner petrusion etc...

Many thanks!

No use on the liner protrussion im afraid but looks like you have put the HG on the wrong way, tab should be at the back on the flywheel end iirc, just incase you hadnt realised

the liner protrusion needs checking before the liner seals are fitted, most common method is to use a straightedge and feeler gauges, specified clearance is 0.03 to 0.10 mm, maximum difference 0.05mm IIRC.

Thanks Welshpug!

I am pretty sure i checked when rebuilding the bottom half of the engine, waited such a long time for the head from Mr Baker! The liners are brand new and original and the block was totally spotless when rebuilding.

Does anyone have any idea as to why my oil gallery filter part no. 1186.08 does not fit properly.

in what way does it not fit properly? (it's the valve/filter that goes in the main oil feed from block to head for those that don't know  )

Are you sure? They usually need a gentle tap in with a suitable sized drift. Then trim any extra off, if you've had a giant head skim. It will sit in the gasket hole anyway.

Yes, I have tapped it into the hole. On closer inspection i could see that the filter sides had curved inwards. The head is from Dave Baker, big valves and all, the head has been skimmed to obtain the desired CR.
