Well the clutch change is almost finished but i seem to have a bit left over

Can anyone tell me what it is and where i fits?

also a part number would be good if you have one as it looks a bit mangled

it was found it at the back of the engine hanging on a pipe below the air filter housing & has the words "signal vision 66-35" moulded on the "sensor?" end

Also would it not being fitted stop the starter turning over or is that somthing else i've bu*^ered ;) , fuel pump runs but not even a click from the starter solinoid the small (blue?) wire to the starter is visable and the large one feels ok. Car was starting beautifully before gearbox came off :D

As ever your advice is very welcome

Thank you

Roddie

That is a picture of a crank sensor which is used for diagnostics/setting up the ignition timing. It is not needed to start the engine.

Make sure that the thick cable on the starter is connected to shunt box>battery positive>starter motor>alternator and that all connections are tight. The blue starter wire might not be getting a good connection through the dreaded brown multiplug, check it is all plugged in properly.

its an engine speed sensor that's purely for diagnostic purposes, no longer used by garages since probably the mid nineties!

you can leave it off ;)

No, its just in a cut out in the gearbox casing above the flywheel & the sensor is held on by a bolt.

You don't need to worry about covering the space left.

No idea what the second picture is though. ;)

Graham.

Well after almost 4 months the little black car runs again, clutch changed, door changed, and another bypass to the brown multi plug (good call Goliath it was the blue wire).

Just need to change the door lock over and get a new exhaust and MOT and we're in business for the summer :P

Thank you too all the people who have given me answers to all the daft questions I've asked over the last few months i really could not have done it without you.
