Misfire Thread

Recommended Posts

Ok yesterday i decided to clean up a little in my engine bay. Although i took great care not to get anything electrical wet, my car has developed a misfire. I have removed all the leads and dried them out from both dizzy and plug ends. I also removed the plastic HT lead carrier which bolts to the rocker cover. I have since replaced this but with the same results. Its just pissing me off now and it sounds like im driving a peice of s*it subaru.

Did you remove the dizzy cap and dry out any moisture that may have got in there? Often creates a misfire.

Dry out the dizzy cap, pop the plugs out and dry them and the recess's in the head where they live.

Water based missfires are the most common, and this has been covered on here millions of times.

J turnell yes ive taken off the dizzy cap

Merlin yes i know its been covered millions of times but all the threads say the same things over and over, to which ive tried them all. I wouldn't have posted this if i hadn't tried everything..

Anyway ive cured it now somehow. Just bought some new ignition parts from local Halfrauds

The water will probably have dried off if its cured.

I washed my old xs engine with a power washer whilst the engine wash warm and still running.

I took it for a drive and it was misfiring, so i drove it quite hard and it eventually cleared.

Shouldn't worry about it, coming out soon isn't it.
