Starter Motor

ok so im pretty new to the 205 layout and starter motors in general. I found out my starter motor had seized so got hold of a new one. removed the old one and replaced it. the only thing that was connected to it was the battery terminal wire. so i connected this back to the new one and still nothing. am i missing another wire? what else should connect to the starter motor? or have i been sold a dodgey one?

there should be a smaller gauge blue wire for the solenoid, the standard terminal on the end of it is a female spade.

Have you got the little spade connector type wire on the solenoid?

It could also be a ring connector, i've had one with before which I thought was odd!
