No Bleed Hole On Bbm Hose Kit

Recommended Posts

damien

evening

just finished fitting my bbm hose kit and there seems to be a lack on bleed hole on the pipe to the heater matrix, is this normal? if so how do you go about bleeding the system when your finished?

also ive come across what seems to be a pointless "u" bend in the pipe that goes to the rad, has anyone come across this setup before or know what it could of been used for?

thanks

thats the top rad hose for the water/oil cooler set up where there is a heat exchanger mounted on the gearbox. i'm guessing you don't have one, or it's not plummed in, if those legs have been connected together.

can't comment on the bbm heater matrix pipe suffice to say i've got a samco kit that does have a bleed nipple in that hose.

Its not too difficult to bleed it out anyways. You could just put the top hose on the heater matrix without tightening the clip and take the pipe off the heater matrix when filling to see that it is full to there.

The top hose you have is for the remote Heat exchanger as fitted to most post 1991 1.9 GTi's, They do break so I guess this is why it's been joined up, Just swap it for the std GTi top hose

No need really for the bleed, Just fill up with water and run the engine, Has worked every time for me

Work fine without the bleed, although handy.

Hi Damien,

There's no need for the bleed in this hose. Or though I have had a lot of people ask about it.

I am making hoses for the 106, which does require a bleed point. So I'm making a batch of s/s bleeders. When I have the next batch of 205 hoses made I am going to change the design of this T/ Heater Matrix hose so it can have a bleed point on it.

If you want to swap your T/Heater matrix hose for one of this just let me know.

As already mention the other hose with the take offs is for your Heat exchanger. Have a look to see if the heat exchanger is still mounted.

I now do a replacement hose for this, wateroilheatexchangehos.th.jpg

My replacement also has the restrictor between the two take offs to aid flow around the exchanger.

Thanks

Stew
