Recommended Posts

All Praise The GTI

right finally got it up and running today. it started first time on the key. it smelt abit rich and idled funny. sounded like its gurgling alot i just put it down to being a turbo and the exhaust is straight through lol.

tried to test drive it but it just wont run,as soon as you put your foot down it bogs down.and wont rev right.

its got new plugs/leads/coil. and ive tried another fuel relay/ignition amp/ecu.

the only thing not plugged in is the lambda as some idiot i took the car to before cut the plugs off so i need another lambda with the red and white plug ends on if anyone has one spare to sell???

the other strange thing is with the battery connected the icv hums constantly??? WTF???

please help im dying to get this thing on the road it cost me an arm and a leg now ;)

forgot to say once it does start once its turned off now it wont start again. its turns over then seems to start but stutters and dies. it did this earlier then once id left it an hour or so it started again but now it wont again

FERKIN thing!!!

If the ICV is constantly on with the battery on but no ignition, then there's a battey live where there should be a switched live, the ICV should start buzzing when the ignition is turned on.

Is there a pipe going from the inlet manifold to the ecu?

Does it run ok, but if you put your foot flat on the accelerator is dies? If so, there's 2 wires the wrong way around on the TPS.

I think I have a lambda with 2 plugs (red and white) although I'm not 100% sure, I'll have a look tomorrow, if I do, you can have it for postage costs.

yeah thats what it was doing rob. can i just cut the wires a little before the tps plug and rejoin them the other way around then?

and yes there is a pipe for the map sensor from the inlet to the ecu, does it matter which pipe on the inlet it goes to as there two?

awesome, yeah let me know if youve got a spare please mate and il shout you some cash. o and i wassorting my garage and found that other turbo exhaust housing, did you want it back?

You can just swap the wires around like that yeah, that's what I had to do with mine, the problem is autodata wiring diagrams have them the wrong way around, it's pins 1 and 2 that need swapping on the TPS plug.

You can hang onto the exhaust housing, if you're goning to scrap it I'll have it though!
