Mi 16 Motronic On Xu9jaz Engine

Recommended Posts

Henrik P

I have read a little bit about some off you guys have put an ECU from a mi 16 on a 205 XU9JAZ. Why have you done that and whats the difference on the 2 ECUs?

Does the std motronic on a 205 controle the ignition also?

don't know about Mi16 motronic, but I have fitted ZX volcane/405 SRi motronic MP3.1 onto the XU9JA.

XU9JAZ is the cat equipped engine with a Lambda sensor? in which case yes the ecu does control the ignition side (still with a dizzy) but still has the AFM, which the system I have used does not.

using the Mi16 system would be a pointless excercise IMO, as it still has the AFM.

What does the ZX volcane/405 SRi motronic MP3.1 use if it does not use AFM? A map sensor? And in which way is it different from the original?

Yes it is the one with cat and lambda sensor. So you can't adjust the ignition buy turning the dizzy? You have to remap the Motronic to adjust the ignition?

yes, MAP sensor and a Coil pack, also a Crank sensor and Throttle potentiometer not switch.

you cannot adjust the ignition timing manually with Motronic, only by mapping, the MP3.1 off the 8 valve zx/405SRi would be more suited than the 16v mapping.

So the advantage with the 405 motronic is a smoother idle? Especialy when the cam has been changed?

What's a coil pack?
