Non Invasive Gti-6 Tuning

I'd like around 185Bhp without going too indepth into engine modding.

Im planning on a mild inlet cam(PeterT stage 1?), exhaust(custom, minus the CAT), foam airfilter and hopefully a chipped/remapped ECU.

Is 15-18Bhp realistic, if not, what are your suggestions?

Has anyone had their ECU chipped, and what was the results?(i've found very little from a search).

Mark.

From Magic's results with that very cam I don't think your figure would be far off, any more needs a lot of work to the head where the cams sit, definitely an avenue I want to take with my RS lump, not sure yet which cam to get ground as I have a choice of the XU7 and XU10J4R too :D

Here's two threads for you;

You can get the Magnetti system re-mapped, I dont nkow who can do it apart from Wayne Schofield at Chipwizards up in Lancashire.

BUT, what with the cost of travelling, and the cost of a single mapping session (which is the same no matter how much work is required I believe, at £400 odd) you may as well save up for some aftermarket mappable system as you could get someone far closer to do the mapping, and any subsequent work if its not too drastic will be cheaper to tweak, there's also the far higher resale value of an aftermarket ECU :D

I had my gti 6 chipped about 5 years ago std engine with air filter and exhorst on the RR it was 176 bhp at the fly wheel. Please note the RR I went to is renowned for being optimistic with the results. So I don’t know why I am posting this? Well F**k it I have typed it now!

Good couple of threads there Welshy, difficult to read though, bloody Aussie's :)

Good point with the ECU.

Large, was you engine down on power to start with? Im assuming you had no CAT, I'd be a little dissapointed spending around £1k for a 9Bhp gain.
