Timing Belt Direction, Torque Settings..

Me and a friend fitted a new timing belt to my gti-6 engine and we noticed the new belt had a timing direction when we fitted it.. does it matter which way it went on? atm its facing clockwise direction..

 

 

also what are the torque settings needed for the water pump, tensioners/pullys and gearbox? (gearbox is a 1.6gti one)
