Mi16 Pulley, What Does It Do?

Its possible i already know the answer but what is the pulley on the gearbox end of the camshaft for?

I am thinking a vac pump of some sort???

Is it strong enough to run the alternator?

They ran the powersteering in the 405 iirc.

 

There was some blanks kickign about for them, think another engine has one thats useable. Someone will confirm. S16 engine maybe...

where did the pump sit then? on the gearbox? i thought that was down on the sump or was that a/c?

on the 405 1.9 Mi16 the powersteering pump sits ontop of the gearbox underneath the end of the exhaust cam, and as mentioned runs of the pulley on end of exhaust cam
