High Oil Temperature

Recommended Posts

choco

Hi,

My car (205 mi16) is down on power, stalls at idle, smells of fuel and the oil temp is rising to 150 in 15 minutes.

My first guess after searching the forum would be my headgasket, but did a compressiontest, and all cilinders are around 160/170. I checked my AFM and CTS, but they seem to work ok. The plugs look normal, not sooty or wet.

The only thing i did to it last week was changing the headcover, but there aren't too many things that can go wrong with that (are there? :) )

Anybody got an idea?

Cheers,

Johnny

if it stinks of fuel then it could be overfuelling, check the ECU temp sensor, fitted to side of thermostat housing, blue plug.

whats the engine temp like??

If the CTS is working maybe check/replace the thermostat, it maybe stuck open so giving the CTS incorrect reading causing it to overfuel. :D

If that is the case and your still getting high oil temps it might be an idea to replace the oil.

Sorry I mis read your post I though that was a bit high for your water temp!

A faulty thermostat would either give a high or low water temp reading, low causing it to over fuel, yours is unlikely to be a faulty thermostat.

Check the connections to the CTS and make sure their seated properly.
