Standard Engine Mounts

Recommended Posts

Looking at getting standard 205 gti top and g/box mounts, but are the genuine ones from Pug better than ones from euro car parts/gsf? They are certainly a lot more expensive - is it worth it?

Cheers!

I got a set of group N bushes from bakerbm.com , they were about £90 for all engine and gearbox mounts, I haven't tested them out myself yet as waiting to get the engine back in but couple of friends say there a good mounts,

anyone else got baker bushes???

Yes, and they're noticably stiffer, alot more ratlles and vibrations through the car, but not as bad as some say IMO.

It depends what you're after, no doubt as always the Pug OE stuff will be slightly better, but offset against the cost of the pattern parts from GSF/ECP etc. Swings and roundabouts really!

Don't want Group N stuff to keep vibrations down to a minimum if I can. Have picked up a xantia turbo lower bush, but want to stick with standard stuff for the other two mounts (I'll also be replacing the small lower mount bush too). Thinking maybe go for the Gen Pug ones if I'm staying standard as these may, as you say, be better quality and may be more up to the job of coping with a gti6 engine...

Having seen how bad the GSF/ECP opnes are I'd say OE only
