Ecu Bosch Numbers

can someone let me the right bosch ECU for my 1.9 8v gti, its a e plate one, it had a ECU ending 359 maybe and i tried a 460 in it i think is the number, it runs on both but i'm juts curious what difference there is in them and i fit will damage anything if i use the wrong ECU in the car!! cheers all

359 is the 1.9 one, and 340 is the 1.6 GTi one. Not personally seen one ending in 460, but it will be wrong.

 

Certainly you can swap 1.9 and 1.6 ECU's around and subjectively it'll appear to run, but the fuelling will be out as the ECU is "calibrated" (and I use that term very loosely) for a given injector size and AFM type, and mixing-and-matching only throws that "calibration" out of the window.

cheers for that, the 340 is the one i have!! and the 359 is the one that was in it, i'l try and find a good 359 to try in it!! many thanks

So am I right in thinking.. that if one was to use a 359, with the correct injectors and AFM off a 1.9

This would run ok for a 1.6?

cheers for info, the problem i have is that when i got the car it had a 359 ecu and a 056 AFM, the car was a good runner, sinec i've had it it has got a flat spot between 2.5k and 3k, i have changed

leads

bosch super 4 plugs and tried the ngk ones

ig module

checked adv on dizzy

checked for air leaks

fuel filter

fuel pressure reg

 

what i would like to know is that if the car has a 359 ecu and a 056 (think its a 1.6 AFM?) will it be ok? i saw someone mentioned about the fuelling being out with a 1.6 ecu, 340 but didnt know if mixing 1.6 AFM and a 1.9 ecu is ok!!!

Car has had me stressing for ages now!!

 

HELP please!!

 

p.s i have brought a cheapy co meter and it seems to be ok, also i have a timing light and been fiddling with all that....

Hi,

I have a spare ECU which has no sticker i.d.

I've open it up and it has the number stamped on the circuit board 2288325498-2

 

Can anyone identify whether this could be a 340 or 359 model?
