Dash Lighting Fuse Blowing

Recommended Posts

Garry

Since fitting the charger my dash illumination has not been working. Both clocks and centre consol, but the dash warning lights still work.

The side lights don't work either.

Fuse 13 (I think, the second one in from the right hand side of the glovebox fuse board) keeps blowing as soon as I turn on the head lights.

I have checked the Haynes wiring diagram, but to be honest I am finding it pretty hard to understand. What I think it says that the dimmer wheel and the clock are all limked in the same circuit. I have tried bypassing the dimmer with a piece of wire but the fuse still blows. The clock works, but doesn't light up and doesn't respond to pressing the adjustment buttons.

The headlights work on full beam and driving. But the small side lights don't.

Are the headlights connect to the dash lighting, I did remove the headlights when fitting the charger, so may have plugged it in the wrong way around, but I have tried a few combos to no avail.

Is it likely to be an earth issue as the fuse keeps blowing as soon as I turn it on?

Thanks

Garry

sounds like there's a short in the sidelight circuit, I think its on the same fuse as the dash lighting.
