Assembling Eibach 7001's And Billy Challenge Dampers

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Trying to get this finished today but there seems to be ALOT of miss-alignment between the top of the spring and the top mount spring platform.

Can anyone give me a few pointers?

I presumed that the rubber tubes covering the ends of the springs were for protection during packing so removed them before fitting. I'm sure I have the ends of the springs in the correct position on the platforms. Famous last words...

Thanks,

Ben

thats quite normal with a compressed spring, and the rubber bits are meant to stay on there.

Ok, thanks.

Think I may have chucked one pair of rubber covers though.

I had same problem. You will have to un-do the compressors and move them a coil or so down (to compress more than they are now)

I ended you scratching the spings and taking some paint of my new eibachs when I done this tho, it's the only way I could get them to compess enough to get the spring pan & nut on the thread.

Them style spring compressors are dangerous in my opinion. Good look!

maybe pus some thin card between the spring compressor hooks and spring to protect the paint on the spring?

Paul.

Fairly common as said, when that happens (annoyingly) just takes another attempt or 2!

Got there in the end, the second assembly was a little easier and against all odds, I found the set of rubber sleeves I'd chucked in the bin two weeks ago!

Thanks all.
