Oil Filter Help

Recommended Posts

yorkshirekowboy

hello all

my mi is due an oil change, but with the radiator tilted, the oil filter on is very close to the radiator (the oil filter is mounted on standard large/thicker water cooled oil cooler), my question is how do you guys get the filter off with out having to take the radiator off? is there a easy way?

i was thinking maybe to unbolt the lower engine mount so i can maybe tilt the engine abit to make more room?

also i have read on here some where to get past this problem to use the renault 5 oil filter as its stubby? is that correct, also these filters ok for mi16 engines?

regards

dan

Disconnecting the lower engine mount should do the trick. If not, take off the slam panel/ grill assembly and just lift the rad out of the locating hole and forwards.

The oil filter you need is from a mk1 clio 16v or 19 16v. About 2.50 from gsf.
