Fitting A Xsara Vts Box

Recommended Posts

Adnic69

I have searched and search and am more confused now.

I have an MI16 in my 205 and cover quite a lot of motorway miles for business. Not really a problem but the 1.6 box is a little tiring after a while.

I am looking to fit the xsara vts box but am unclear if it's a straight swap.

Can I just remove the old 1.6 box and replace with the vts or do I need to do something with the pivot arm?

Also are the normal 1.9 driveshafts ok?

be easier to swap the 5th gear and then have a longer fifth

Miles

You need to swap the cross shaft over or in many cases buy a new one £60ish along with the bearings top and bottom, The N/S Driveshaft will either need the 306/405 etc inner cup fitted as the diff is different or just swap over to the 205 one

5th gears cannot be swapped over as the BE4's use a different length output shaft.

Thanks for the replies.

It's a 1998 box so does that apply with the driveshafts?
