Clutch Help In Oz

Recommended Posts

Guest sowtz

hi from the land down under. Got my first pug205gti today. Driving home on the freeway and noticed the clutch was on the floor! Got it towed home, looks like something has fallen out from the clutch fork? Looking for some help. Thanks

have you checked the clutch cabl;e hasn't snapped? if it hasn't snapped then it's either the release bearing has pushed through the clutch plate spring face in which case it's a new clutch or the prongs on the clutch fork have snapped off, either way its a gearbox off job to see whats going on.

Have a look on the main site, there's a good guide to changing a clutch if you want to do it DIY, if you have the tools and are confident.

if its the be1 gearbox (reverse beside 1st) it could be the pin/rod thing thats fallen out, i think something else would need to break for it to fall out, mine fell out when the cable snapped

is the be1 box, rev next to 1st, had another look cable and everything is intact and working, dont see any pin/rod thing must be that. The guy i got it off snapped the cable bout 18month ago got it fixed (when i lift the clutch it does come up well past the break pedal, is that normal?) and got a new plate 6 months ago, so shouldnt be that. Is it an easy fix if so how? Or should i just take it somewhere. Thanks for the help.

It will be the stupid pin thing. It goes between the fork and arm bit - they are really cheap through regans in alburn road

Where did you get the car from anyway? And where are you in melb?

The pin is about 35-40mm long. dont use 1 which is too big tho, puts a lot more stress on the L-shape bracket.

You just have to back the cable off a bit, then put the pin in and tension it back up.

I'm in templestowe anyway. I was going to say, you will probably hear me before you see me, but i had a new exhaust fitted last week and it is nice and quiet now. My car is white anyway, with various bits of trim missing... If you need bits there are a few people locally that can help

Ask for spares anyway, and they will transfer you 9830 5322.
