Torque Bolts On The End Of The Cams (16v)

Recommended Posts

finding this hard to explain to people, the bolt that is goes into the end of the cam underneath the dizzy rotor arm, i need to remove this to fit my dizzy adapter, is this an oposite thread as ive just been trying my hardest to get the bastard off but it wont budge. gave it a good spray of wd40 but suddenly dawned on me it might be an opposite thread cheers for the help.

read a few topics about the vac advance now. seems to be 2 seperate camps for this, a big YES and a big nah couldnt be arsed with it. the take off on the carb mani is bigger than the one on the dizzy so what have people done to fit it. i have some windscreen washer pipe here i could just heat it up and try forcing it on. who votes i just leave it?

Do you mean the torx head countersunk bolt, if so it is a normal (right hand) thread, however they can be very tight and I think are threadlocked in. You could try getting it hot, as this will break down the threadlock. However be careful of any seals in the area if you do this.

brute force and got my house mate to put a spanner on the other end of the cam that was in situ. didnt have a vice to get it off the bare cam, so had to resort to doing it pykey style, drove the car onto the cam then loosened it off. classic.
