Gti6 Hoses

Recommended Posts

Since installing the gti6 Ive had a bit of trouble working out what the hoses on the tb/manifold all should go to.

If anyone could let me know i would be very grateful!

the one from the throttle body goes to the purge canister

the one from the mainfold toes to the T section which has a short pipe to the vacuum pump on the cylinder head on the end of the exhaust cam and the other pipe off the T goes to the brake servo

ok looks like i might have made a few mistakes then!

I currently have the brake servo connected where the purge canister should be, nothing on the one from the manifold as i have no vacuum pump. (its a xu10j4r head with an rs manifold)

any idea what the purge canister and vacuum pump do? no wonder i have idling issues!

vacuum pump is for servo assistance, purge solenoid is for the charcoal canister that absorbs fuel vapour from the fuel tank, not many 205's have these, they usually just have a vent to atmosphere in the right hand rear wheelarch.

ok, well I have re-routed the brake servo onto the manifold (bypassing the vacuum pump as I don't have one) and what would be the purge solenoid hose now vents away.

although my idle is still a bit erratic! its idles about 750rpm and every so often drops down and then jumps back up to 1100, then settles back to 750. worse when hot, and occasionally cuts out. any ideas?

just to add, id did exactly the same on the original manifold/throttle body/sensors which was an XU10J4R. I decided to replace the whole manifold TB and sensors with ones from the RS which I thought would fix it, although it is exactly the same??

sounds like idle control valve issues.

which management are you running?

I was reading through a Project thread and someone asked if the Purge take off was needed, to which the reply was, 'no, it can be blanked'. I haven'tgot this far yet with mine, but see if blanking it off helps your idle.

Are all your vacuum pipes secure?

as far as I can tell they are all secure. I have just swapped the idle control valve and its the same. the purge take off seems to have quite a bit of suction to it, where as the one that goes to the head has next to none, it this correct??

Spiky

just blank off the one for the purge canister, it's not needed, so ditch the purge canister too :)
