what are the pros and cons of skip brown gti-s vs mi16 engine conversion, ie cost, power gains over standard(and tired) 1.9 gti and also reliability/ drivability for road use ?

what are the pros and cons of skip brown gti-s vs mi16 engine conversion, ie cost, power gains over standard(and tired) 1.9 gti and also reliability/ drivability for road use ?

mi16 makes 160bhp standard.... or for 3-4k you can get a reliable 220-240bhp

Depends on what you want really, A good 8v or a good 16v, the latter will always gain you more power but the Mi now suffer from worn injection parts as do the 8v's so upgrading to aftermarket ECU's is a worthwhile upgrade, There is allot better than SBC engine's too

 

Most 8 and 16v's need rebuilding, the 16v will cost more to rebuild thou but cheaper to get say 200bhp from each.
