Since Cleaning Engine Horrible Noise

im thinking the bearing on the alternator needs oiling its obviously something that turns that was all nicely greased up before but i gone and degreased it so now it whirs definately sounds like a bearing somewhere that needs lubing any suggestions please

Possibly, I'd remove the belt and see if its still making the noise

it seems to be coming from the alternator for sure but i don't wanna upset things was going to squirt a bit of concentrated oil in but that wont be good for the belt to work well if it gets on that will it lol

Just drip some water on the belt, if it stops it's that, if it doesn't, it isn't.

sometimes water can also makeit squeak, i'd spray some wdon the belt.

Seeing as the belt relies on friction to do it's job WD40 ain't really a good idea, it will be quiet but probably won't be turning the alternator!! Water acts a lubricant but then evaporates.

 

It could also be your cambelt tensioner. How much de-greaser did you splash about?
