Dizzy Wont Retard?

Recommended Posts

Well, my gti still isnt running right, idle's superb thought :) So, trying messing around with the distributer after we found the timing was a tooth out, no the distributer doesnt retard. Dues to strip the whole top end off and re-start someone elses's mess.

Open up the aperture on the side of the dizzy and look inside with an flashlight – turn the dizzy shaft slowly and check if the both springs are on position .. (sounds like one has fallen off the peg/stop :excl: )

Might be a little bit tricky , but not as such hard/complicated job id say :)

But do check it out first though (you don't have to dismantle the dizzy to check if the springs are in place , theres an metal cap on the side if the dizzy so just remove it and down trough the aperture you'll be able to see the springs .. turn the dizzy shaft slowly while looking , if one has fallen off it'll be obvious ..)
