Gti6 Bearing Same As S16 Bearings?

Recommended Posts

spoke to my local supplier about bearings but they couldn't find any bearings listed for the XU10J4RS engine and using this site which lists all federal mogul/glyco items which i'm pretty sure is what they would be supplying i was also unable to find any. However i was able to find bearings listed for the XU10J4R engine, so my question is are these going to be the same?

http://www.fmecat.eu/index.asp

from left hand side choose

Selection by Engine

then Peugeot from dropdown

then have a look at engine codes RFV(XU10J4R) & Crankshaft Drive

bottom ends for XU10 are all the same bearing wise  (as are most D/TD's)

I think Miles can get good bearings at good prices.

i've just read on the 306 forum that Rich_W uses XUD bearings for their supercharger conversions as they are "heavy duty". So are turbo diesels (1.9 i presume) mains and bigends that same size as the GTI6? and if so is it worth using the diesel beairings instead as an "upgrade" to help with the additional power

i found RFS in the drop down list but it didn't list any bearings for it

Miles

That is very misleading, All bearing's supplied in Europe are Alloy based now, But you can get which again I supply from down under the old Lead/Copper bearing's at pretty much the same price and can go down to .8 under, it's one of those thing's just like the T16 bearing's

which bit is misleading Miles? sorry i'm probably being a bit dim

On the Federal Mogul site (http://www.federal-mogul.com/en/Aftermarke...ng/AE-Bearings/) they list different types of bearing material i'm guessing thats why on their catalogue there are diffeent part numbers listed for the same STD bearing size ie different part number for the different bearing material.

Doing a comparison for the bearings available for the XU104JR engine and the 1.9 Turbo Diesel Engine it would appear the main bearigns are the same part number but they list different part numbers for the big ends and thrust washer bearings.

Is it just best to go for the standard XU104JR ones?

Miles

You don;t want heavy duty bearing's, the Alloy ones are hard enough, The Lead/copper ones are softer and you have more chance of saving the crank if or when the big ends fail.
