406 1.9 Turbo Diesel Clutch

Been doing a bit of searching about a suitable clutch for my supercharged GTI6 project. A 406 1.9TD clutch has been mentioned in a few postes as being a suitable upgrade as it shoud be able to handle the exta torque.

 

but i can see a problem in that the clutch is a pull type arrangement but the 5 speed mi16 box i'm plannign on using is a push type affair. So does anyone have any suggerstionas to an easy way around this? or is it going to be a case of scrapping the push mi16 box and some sort of pull box instead ie Xsara 5 speed VTS

Easy peasy, just fit the pull type clutch lever from a diesel box to your Mi box. In actual fact we could do a handy swap here, as I've a diesel box I want to convert the other way (e.g. to a PUSH) clutch.

I also have a TD clutch out of a Xantia you can have to mock up with if you want.

not sure why the TD clutch would be any better than the standard XU10J4 unit, they both produce near on exactly the same amount of torque!

 

also many replacement clutches are listed as direct fit for the TD and XU10 motors as fit wise they are identical.
