Replacing Inner Arches

Ok , i am going to be fitting my gti6 engine at some point in the not so distant future. However my 205 has rotton inner arches like most. I am wondering how hard they are to replace and what is involved, its mostly rusty just aroudn there it goes up at 90°

really depends how good you are with a welder and consequently paint :wacko:

 

have a look at some of Tom Fenton and Damir's threads as IIRC both cover some repairs to these areas ;)

Ive seen loads of 205s with rust appearing along that innder arch like, usally drivers side, one of the only real places they seem to go but they do.

Or like mine where the jack has rubbed away the paint causing on the suspension turret causing it to rot and a big bill :)

I think what makes it rust is the seam in the wheel arch gets attacked by girt etc so over the years the underseal has come off and has started to rust..

I have just completed my inner arches last wkend. They wernt that bad you'd be suprised what damage you can do with a screw driver pokeing about. anyway there done now welded up and sealed up thought i would tackle it while engine was out and while it wasnt that bad rather than 5yrs down the line when you can put your fist through it.
