Clutch Cable Type?

Recommended Posts

nick9one1

I managed to snap the clutch cable on my G plate 1.9 Gti. I'm going down to the motorfactors in the morning but not quite sure which cable I need!

I've had a look at some pictures on ebay but some of them seem to contradict.

from my research G is 01 August 1989 till

31 July 1990

which means I could have either the be1 or be3?

Although I dont have a pull up reverse and the clutch pedal has what looks like a big hook that pulls the cable, which did have a white plastic bit on the end 'till it snapped off.

this is sort of what it looks like

many thanks!!

It really is worth getting a OE cable for the couple of quid more it cost's, the pattern ones are poor

The oe cables are apparently made by a company called Dura, the last one I got from my local motor factors was this make & so was the one I bought more recently from the people that used to supply Autofive.

Best option when fitting it is to remove the clutch pedal from the pedal box so you can clip the end into the pedal better rather than force it in risking damaging the plastic clip.

I'd get the longer one, better to have a little slack then to tight.
