Arvin Downpipe

Recommended Posts

buster205

hi all

i'm going to change my exhaust soon and enquired with pug dealers about oe downpipe but was quoted £483 inc vat is this right ? fitted at the mo is bosal system which is smaller bore than arvin one i removed and no splitter in d/pipe. i've kept the arvin downpipe/centre section part no pg209p, how close to oe spec is this part ? i want to cut off at end of splitter and weld 2 bolt flange then bolt on custom stainless. is arvin d/pipe worth keeping or just a poor replica ? i've also read posts saying newer arvin downpipes are made without splitter is this right ?

cheers

that price would get you the whole system from Peugeot, which part numbers was that price for?

Servicebox shows it as being about £166 for a P2 downpipe/centre silencer (one piece)

Is your car an 8v or 16v?

If you just want the downpipe i.e. the first part of the earlier three part system, Buy Parts By sell the Arvin pipe with the split here:

http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/exhausts_detai...p?recordID=2015

If you order, specify in the notes field that it HAS to be Arvin though.

I bought a rear silencer from here and it was spot on quality wise and had a noticeable improvement. I believe Arvin do their own OE spec stuff, but you can also get Arvin/Timax which aren't as good, or something like that. I've read that the split doesn't come up as far or something. Bosal are another common make.

Do a search as it's all on here somewhere.

The phase 1 downpipe doesn't have a silencer fitted, its just the downpipe becasue the system is in three pieces, downpipe, centre pipe (with silencer) & back box.

The phase 2 system has the downpipe & centre pipe as one assemmbly, is a slightly larger diameter & the backbox has an olive joint makign replacement much easier.

If you get an Arvin system (not Timax or Bosal which are all part of the same company) the downpipe should have the correct full length split downpipe. All the ones I've sen have anyway.

Arvin used to have the aftermarket rights for PSA exhaust systems for a while but now that they have merged with Timax & Bosal thats probably all gone out of the window.

Graham.

Shame your not closer to me, have a full unused Arvin system here for £100.

Bought from buypartsbuy at about £140 all in, looks identical to a Pug system.

Got an OMP on there instead, purely for the sound (and turns out the OMP is a lot quieter and not even that sporty sounding!)
