How About A J 1992 1,9 Gti - Which Petrol?

Apologies for another post regarding 'which type of petrol'.

 

The 1993 cat 1.9 I went to look at was a little bit of a dog for my first GTi. Had been stood for about 2 months, and was cutting out alot. Never mind. If anyone wants the details of the seller etc let me know and I can pass them on - he wanted £1200 no more no less for it.

 

I'm now going to see a J plate 1992 1.9 - NON-cat Gti.

 

Question once again is, what fuel? Can it be run on regular 95ron WITHOUT retarding the timing?

All non-CAT 1.9 GTi's need 97RON (super unleaded) and won't work with 95RON (standard unleaded) without retarding the timing, which noticeably affects power and response.
