Mi16 Juddering When Stationary

Recommended Posts

Guest MickJ

I changed the spark plugs on my 205 Mi16 earlier and upon start up it has developed a judder. I reverted to the old ones, which did not solve the problem. The judder seems to be less severe after time, and also when the clutch is depressed.

Any ideas what my problem could be?

Check all your gearbox bolts, they work loose and cause this. Poke your head under the front of the car and see if the engine and g/box are bolted tightly together.

second vote for this, especially since the clutch causes it to stop, is the gear change a little notchy?

The clutch bit did it for me, I only found this out on mine when it ripped the centre out of the friction plate!!!

It was the gearbox being loose. There was about a 1/4 inch gap between gearbox and engine block. On further inspection the upper and lower bolts were completey absent! Thanks for the advice, much appreciated!!
